Sara Kathryn Bakker

Sara joined the Rude Mechanicals in 1999 during their first repertory season and was one of two actors in the company to perform in both A Midsummer Nightís Dream (Helena) and Largo Desolato (Marguerite, dir. Derek Cecil). During the 2000-2001 season, she played the female lead voice Memory in Company by Samuel Beckett and then Lena in A Mouthful of Birds by Carol Churchill, directed by Rebecca Taylor. Sara produced the New Play Reading Series 2001 and performed in two of the readings: Disappeared (Sarah Casey) by Phyllis Nagy, directed by Christian Parker and The Nina Variations (Nina) by Steven Dietz, directed by Tyler Marchant. Sara performed in three of the five readings for the New Play Reading Series 2002: Satellites of the Sun (April) by Sharr White, directed by Barbara Rubin, UntilWeFindEachOther (Tangee) by Brooke Berman, directed by Carolyn Cantor and The Infinite Regress of Human Vanity (Liz Hazel) by Murphy Guyer, directed by Danny Goldstein. Saraís regional credits include Rosalind in As You Like It at the Utah Shakespearean Festival, Helena in A Midsummer Nightís Dream at the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival and Alice in Stinkiní Rich (World Premiere adaptation of The Miser) at the Delaware Theatre Company, all directed by Henry Woronicz. She also spent a season at the Williamstown Theatre Festival with the Act One Company. TV and film credits include "Ghost Stories" with Rip Torn, A Boy and a Girl, and Shame No More, directed by John Krokidas. Most recently, Sara has participated in readings with the Drama Department and Primary Stages (opposite Larry Pine). Sara earned her BA from Yale University and her MFA from the American Conservatory Theater.
